The things people ask us.

The drive, the minimum stay, the Wi-Fi, the dog. If yours isn't here, call or text 207-267-1647 and Laura or Matt will answer it.

How do we book?

Call or text 207-267-1647, email us, or send the request form with rough dates and a headcount. We'll confirm what's open and send an all-in price, usually the same day. A 25% deposit holds it and the balance is due 30 days before you arrive. Booking with us directly means one contract for any number of cabins and no platform service fee.

Is a full week cheaper?

Yes. Seven nights is billed at the weekly rate, which comes in under seven nightly stays: $200 less per cabin on Cabins 1–3 and $195 less on Cabins 4–5. Book all five for the week and that adds up across every cabin.

What's the minimum stay?

June, July and August run Saturday to Saturday with a seven-night minimum. The rest of the year shorter stays work — check the calendar, or ask.

Can we book all five cottages?

Yes, and it's the thing we most like doing. Five cottages together sleeps up to fifty, on one contract with one deposit. Send us your rough dates and headcount and we'll come back with availability and an all-in number — usually the same day. Reunion weeks tend to get claimed twelve to eighteen months out.

Getting here

How far it is, where to stay, and when we're open.

How far is it, really?

Far. Eagle Lake is in the top corner of Maine, closer to Quebec and New Brunswick than to Portland. Roughly: Presque Isle airport (PQI) is about an hour away, Bangor about three and a half hours, Portland about five and a half, and Boston about seven. Most guests drive, and flying in means a rental car either way. Tell us where you're starting from and we'll give you an honest drive time before you commit.

Where should we stay near Eagle Lake, Maine?

It depends on the trip. If you want your own lakefront cabin with a full kitchen, a private beach and room for a family or a whole reunion, that's what we do: five three-bedroom cabins on the eastern shore, three minutes from the village grocery and next door to Old Mill Marina. If you'd rather have every meal cooked and a guide booked for you, a traditional sporting camp up the lake is the better fit. Motels in the village and in Fort Kent cover a quick overnight.

Are you open in winter?

Year-round. The cabins are heated, the lot is plowed, and winter is its own season up here — snowmobiling, ice fishing, smelt shacks and the sled dog races. Outside June through August you don't need to book a full week.

Is there air conditioning?

Yes — all five cabins have air conditioning. Cabins 1, 2 and 3 are also fully renovated; Cabins 4 and 5 are the originals and cost less.

Is there Wi-Fi and cell service?

Every cottage has Wi-Fi and cable TV. Cell coverage is rural Maine coverage — fine for most carriers, patchy for some. If someone in your group has to take a call, plan on doing it from the cottage.

Do we need to bring bedding and towels?

No. Linens and towels are provided, along with paper towels, dish soap and sponge, hand and body soap, shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper and garbage bags. Bring food, drink and whatever you fish with.

What about laundry?

Coin-operated washers and dryers are available 24 hours at the Overlook Motel nearby — $2 to wash, $2 to dry.

On the water

The beach, the boats and the fishing.

Is the beach private? Is the lake?

The beach, docks and grounds are private to our guests. Eagle Lake itself is a big public lake — about 5,600 acres — shared with the town, camps and a marina, which is exactly why the boating and fishing are good.

Do the cabins come with kayaks and canoes?

Yes. Kayaks, canoes, paddles and life jackets in every size are shared across the property and free to use. The pontoon is available to rent by the day and picks up at our own dock.

Is Eagle Lake good for fishing?

Very. It's known for landlocked salmon, lake trout (togue) and brook trout, and it's one of the few Maine lakes open to hook-and-line smelt fishing year-round. There's dock space for your boat, fuel next door, and ice fishing and smelt shacks in winter. Anyone 16 or older needs a Maine fishing license, which the state sells online.

Can we bring our own boat, jet skis or sleds?

Yes. There's dock space for guests' boats and jet skis, ample parking for trucks and large trailers — plowed all winter — and ATV and snowmobile trail access right from the property. Fuel is next door at Old Mill Marina.

Kids, dogs & house rules

Who's welcome, and how we keep it a quiet lakefront.

Groups & events →
Two doodles, one white and one apricot, leaning together on the seat of a pontoon boat on the lake.
Two dogs per cabin, with the $100 pet fee.
Is it good for young kids?

Kids are the main event here — bunk rooms, a sandy beach, life jackets in every size, lawn games and a gazebo full of toys. It's a real lake, so little ones need a grown-up with them on the beach and the dock.

Can we bring the dog?

Yes — two dogs per cottage, with a $100 non-refundable pet fee. Dogs need to stay leashed on the property, and waste goes in the dumpster. We don't take other kinds of pets.

What are the house rules?

Check in from 4:00 pm, check out by 9:00 am. No smoking anywhere on the property. Kids of any age are welcome, and so are two dogs per cabin with the pet fee. When other guests are on site we keep it a quiet lakefront. Weddings, receptions and big celebrations are for whole-property bookings — that way the only people you could keep up are your own.

Can we hold a wedding here?

Yes. Book all five cabins and the property is yours — beach, lawn, gazebo and fire pits, with up to 50 guests sleeping on site and RV lots for overflow. You bring your own vendors (caterer, tent, rentals, music). Send us your date, headcount and what you're picturing, and we'll tell you honestly what works here.
